Higher education opportunities abound in Springfield.
Whether you are a traditional college freshman, adult,
graduate, transfer, international, or non-degree seeking
student, Springfield has a campus and a program that are
right for you.
Southwest Missouri State University (SMSU), the
area’s largest university and the second largest in
the state, offers studies in more than 140 undergraduate
and 40 graduate academic disciplines. SMSU is charged with
a public affairs mission. The rapidly growing Ozarks
Technical Community College offers credit and noncredit
courses, customized training courses for businesses, and
technical training for high school students. Founded in
1873 and housed on a historic, 55-acre center city campus,
Drury University is a nationally recognized liberal arts
institution. Drury is known for the Breech School of
Business and the Hammons School of Architecture. Evangel
University, founded in 1955 and affiliated with the
Assemblies of God Church, continues to educate and inspire
students on its 80-acre campus. Several other area colleges
are church sponsored, including Assemblies of God
Theological Seminary, Baptist Bible College, Central Bible
College, and Southwest Baptist University of nearby
Bolivar, which operates a center in
